I've had this one in my inbox for a WHILE because I wanted to give it the attention it deserves. Nerding out is SO IMPORTANT imo!! I was a huge fangirl in my teens for various anime and games and it's sad that now I'm a 'proper grown up' I'm expected to put all my energy into 'productive' things and reduce what goes into the media I enjoy.

I wrote SO much fanfiction in my teens (some of it I think is still on ao3 but most got deleted because I didn't know orphaning works was a thing) and I loved it!! I don't do as much fan content anymore but I've been thinking about maybe writing things about the media I consume, just maybe not in a fanfiction sense on my substack blog haha (thinking more about writing about the themes etc). Maybe a project for the new year..?

Also I LOVE ARIETTY!!!

As worthy a goal as any!

It's a scary thing to put out there, but when someone responds with the same energy... it's priceless!

That kind of vibe can be contagious to others holding back.

I know people here are largely anti-ai, but personally I find it fascinating debating favourite character interactions or viewpoints that never happened.

Admittedly doing that with other fans would be better, but it's a stop gap!

I’m going to cry, this is so beautiful!! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🫶 I remember being so obsessed with so many things that my whole story on Instagram would be just like edits and stuff of them and now I’m older and scared of being judged and I’m so particular about what I post now which isn’t all bad but I wish I still had carefree nature to me that was easier when I was younger to just post whatever I loved

first of all, i’m such a huge fan of yours and everything you write. second of all…wow. this was nostalgia wrapped in a warm hug. we don’t talk often enough on this platform of the days when we all used to scream and cheer at our favorite tv shows, or draw fanart for our favorite books, or watch vlogs from our favorite actors (that just me? idk man.) you’ve perfectly voiced a feeling i’ve really been having recently: that there is such a childlike innocence in loving something fully and authentically. now MY goal in 2026 is to proudly celebrate the things i love!! btw…if anyone doesn’t like you doing that…yes absolutely CUT THEM OUT!! and when you do come talk to me about your favorite things bc i always want to hear !!

Oh, this made my heart so full 🥹. Thank you so much!!!! Nostalgia is exactly what i was trying to capture! the screaming, the fanart, the late nights watching interviews and vlogs, the joy of loving something just to love something!

ALSO, I'm a huge fan of your writing too <3 You're so so amazing! my inbox is always open for you to ramble about your favourite things. thank you for reading and being so kind and sweet 🤍

i agree with this so so so much: time to stop acting like growing up means growing quieter.

growing up should basically mean getting weirder and more ourselves.
